How to make Fried Rice | Best Restaurant style Sri Lankan Fried rice
This is a delicious and easy fried rice recipe with steamed white rice, egg, chicken, shrimp, and mixed vegetables. This is so much better and healthier than Chinese restaurants or takeouts!
This is my basic Fried Rice recipe. If you are a vegan, omit eggs, if you like chicken fried rice, Add fried chicken at the end. Get creative and cook however you feel like eating. You are the home chef so you have all the power.
In Sri Lanka, we love to eat Fried Rice all the time. Once I came to the USA, I tried many recipes. Over the years and finally figured out the perfect recipe for my taste. In this post, I have shared my recipe with you. This recipe will serve 4-5 people.

5 Cups White Rice
Butter 10 tablespoons
Minced Garlic 3 cloves & 2 slices of Ginger
Few Curry Leaves
1 stalk of Leek: thinly sliced
1 1/2 cups of Carrots: Shredded
1 cup of Beans: thinly sliced
Salt to taste
Pepper- 1/4 teaspoon
Chili flakes- 2 tablespoons
Turmeric- 1/8th teaspoon
8 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
In to the Wok, first, add 3 tbsp. of Butter. Once it’s hot, add Garlic and Ginger, wait until golden brown color. Now add curry leaves.
Let’s add vegetables now. Add sliced Leek, sliced Carrots and Beans.
Cook vegetables until soft.
Now make some space in the middle of the pan and add 2 tbsp. of butter. Add 3 eggs. Scramble them.
Once everything is mixed well, add Spices. Salt, Pepper, Chili flakes, and turmeric. Mix everything.
Now it’s time to add rice. First, add 3 Cups of Rice. Before mixing, add about 6 tbsp. of Soy Sauce and 3 Tbsp. of butter on top of the Rice. Now Mix everything.
Let it cook for about 1-2 minutes
Add the rest of the 2 cups of Rice. About 2 tbsp of Soy Sauce and 2 tbsp of butter.
Now mix everything well and cook for another 4-5 minutes or until it looks like in the Picture.
Cook the rice a few hours ahead for the best results.
