Crispy Chickpea fry | Air- Fry Garbanzo Bean

Chickpeas also called garbanzo bean is a nutritious legume that provides your body with fiber, protein, and vitamins. This crispy Air fried chickpea recipe is the best & easiest recipe to follow and the best part is it's so healthy & delicious. Perfectly suitable for vegans and it is naturally gluten-free.

I've been trying to perfect this Airfried Chickpeas recipe for a while now. After many attempts, I have able to find the best recipe

Few Tips Before We Begin

I baked a total of 18 minutes. This time varies depending on the air fryer. So please keep an eye on the mixture after 13-14 minutes.

If you want extra crispy chickpeas, bake for additional 2-4 minutes

Note it can get burnt quickly. 

If you are using fresh chickpeas ( Not using can chickpeas) I recommend boiling them first as you would normally do. Drain the excess water. Follow the same steps. 

Storing - You can store these in a zip lock bag or an airtight bag. Place a paper towel inside the bag to catch any moisture. 

Tip- Keep the chickpea skins for extra crispiness 


  • 1 Can Chickpea/ Garbanzo beans - 15.5 oz 

  • Olive Oil Spray


  • 1/4 Tsp Salt

  • 1 Tsp Chili Powder

  • 1/2 Tsp Cumin Powder

  • 2 Tsp Sugar


Air Fryer 


  • Open the can. Drain all the water inside.

  • Place all the chickpeas in a colander. Run through a wash. 

  • Drain all the access water 

  • Place chickpeas in the Air Fryer tray (basket). Spread evenly. Set temperature to 390 degrees Fahrenheit. ( You don't want to pre-heat the fryer) 

  • Close the air fryer basket, Set timer for 18 minutes. After 5 minutes of air-frying, open the air fryer basket. Your chickpeas will be dry. 

  • Now spray once with olive oil. Shake the basket so every piece can get glazed with oil. Now start the fryer. 

  • Hereinafter, every five minutes, open the air fryer and shake the container ( Toss the chickpeas) So the chickpeas will crisp up evenly 

  • Meanwhile, mix all the ingredients in a bowl. You can add any flavor you want.

  • For a sweet option, you can use Cinnamon & Sugar. Use the spices in the ingredients for a sweet & spicy flavor.  

  • At the 5 minutes mark ( total temperature of 13 minutes) open the fryer. 

  • Dump all the chickpeas into a bowl. Spray a small amount of oil. Sprinkle the prepared seasoning and give it a toss. 

  • Spread the chickpeas evenly back in the air-fryer tray, and continue air frying for the remaining 5 minutes. ( I sprayed oil so the seasoning will stick to the mixture well. 

  • Keep little of the season so we can combine after taking out of the fryer. 

  • Once it's done frying, remove the crispy chickpeas and place them in a bowl. Sprinkle the set-aside seasoning and toss everything until mixed

  • Now you have a crispy and delicious Chickpea fry!
