Crispy Skin Salmon with Sautéed Broccoli & Red Chard
Ever since I tried Crispy skin salmon recipe in one of the famous restaurants in Las Vegas, I wanted to make my salmon with the same tastes and also add a Sri Lankan touch to it.

Let’s begin how to make Crispy Skin Salmon, Sauteed Broccoli, and Red Chard
Salmon- About 16 oz piece
Season Mix- Salt, Pepper and Garlic Powder, Red chili powder or Paprika
2 tbsp of Butter
For Sauteed Red Chard
Red Chard- 3 leaves
Season Mix- Turmeric, Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, Red Chili Flakes Lemon/Lime Zest
For Sauteed Broccoli
Season Mix- Salt, Pepper, Red Chili Flakes
Thinly sliced Garlic
For Making the Salmon
Begin by pat drying the salmon piece. Place the skin side facing up and make three incisions on the skin. Now add the seasoning mix ( Salt, Pepper, and Garlic and red chili powder) Remember to Season well inside all the incisions as well.
Now flip sides and season generously with the same seasoning mix.
Heat a pan. Add a few drops of oil. Once the oil is heated well, place the salmon skin-side down.
Let it cook until half of the inside is white as seen in the below picture.
Now flip the salmon. One trick is to shake the pan and see if the salmon piece moves. If it is, you can flip. If it sticks to the pan, wait for a few more minutes until the piece moves. When you don’t have a proper nonstick pan, this trick will keep the skin from sticking to the pan.
Cook the salmon until everything looks white. If you like to eat rare or medium-rare salmon, cook less time and don’t wait till white color.
Now add butter in the same pan and melt it. Using a spoon, drop melted butter on top of the salmon skin.
Once the salmon is cooked according to your desire, flip it again, now the skin side is down and it will help to get crispy skin. Wait for about 2-3 minutes and take it away from the heat.
This is really quick and easy side dish.
Always choose Organic Vegetable. Wash all the Broccoli well. Cut down the edge of the stem leaving the pieces as shown in the picture.
Add a little bit of butter and add the broccoli pieces. Let it cook for a few minutes. ( I have used the same pan I used to cook the fish so it will have all the flavors in the pan already.
Once the broccoli becomes a little tender, I’ve added sliced garlic. Cook for about 2-3 minutes. Add all the spice mix (Salt, Pepper, Red Chili Flakes)
Toss everything and cook until tender
For Sauteed Red Chard
I’ve used the Organic Red chard. This is a healthy side dish and it tastes good with salmon.
Cut Red Chard stems into smaller cubes, leaves into bigger pieces as shown in the picture.
Saute Onions until the light golden brown color and red chard stems until tender
Add all the cut chard leaves
Add turmeric, chili flakes, garlic powder, salt, and pepper
Once leaves are softened, add lemon zest (Using a grater, scrape off 1/2 of a lemon or lime skin. Remember not to get the white part of the skin.
Continue saute until soft and you are ready to serve.
