Sweet & Spicy Cauliflower Wings

These Air Fryer Cauliflower wings are just about the easiest side dish you’ll ever make! It's vegan and prepared healthily. This is a great way to incorporate vegetables into your kid's diet. Also a great meatless snack for game day.

Cauliflower is one of my favorite vegetables. Curries, Pizza, Rice, possibilities are endless. I love how versatile it is. This Sweet Spice cauliflower is my new favorite way to eat it! It's a crunchy, sweet, and has a little kick to it.  

Few Tips before we begin 

  • No Air- Fryer? Bake them in the oven

To make crispy cauliflower in the oven, spread the coated cauliflower in an even layer on a baking sheet and bake for 20-30 minutes in a 350˚F oven or until it's reduced in size and it has a crispy outer layer. Rotate the cauliflower once while baking to ensure it cooks evenly.

  • Gluten-Free

Instead of using regular AP flour, use GF flour or whole wheat flour

  • Maple Syrup

If you can't find maple syrup, non-vegans can use honey. For my Sri Lankan friends, they can use Kithul trickle for this. You can also use sugar syrup instead of maple syrup.


  • 1/2 Cauliflower ( About 3 Cups of Florets)

For the Batter

  • 1/4 Cup All-Purpose Flour

  • 1/2 Cup Water

  • Pinch Salt

  • Pepper to taste

  • Chili powder 

For the Sauce

  • 2 Tbsp Maple Syrup

  • 2 Tbsp Siracha Sauce or Ketchup

  • 1 Tbsp Coconut oil

  • 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic 

  • 1/2 Tbsp Minced Ginger

  • 2 Tbsp Chili flakes

  • Nonstick oil spray

How to Make

This recipe is for 2 Servings

  • Cut the head off of the cauliflower, remove the florets

  • Mix in all the ingredients for the Batter. The batter should not have any lumps. It should be a little watery than a pancake batter. At the same time, it should be thick enough to coat the cauliflower without dripping.

  • Meanwhile pre-heat the Air fryer for 380 F

  • Once the Air fryer is pre-heated. Spray the air fryer tray with one coating of oil. 

  • Dip the cauliflower in the batter. You can do this one by one or in batches. shake off excess batter before placing cauliflower in the tray. Don't stack them on top of each other. Simply spread it apart in the tray. 

  • Spray another coat of nonstick spray

  • Air fry for about 18 minutes.

  • Check after 14 minutes and see the texture. Once it's baked enough, cauliflower should be crispy, and it will have a golden brown outer layer. 

  • Remove all the cauliflower florets from the Airfryer tray and place it in a bowl. Sometimes few florets may be stuck to the tray. Don't worry, you can still use them.

Now let's prepare the sauce.

  • Heat a non-stick pan. Add 1 tbsp oil. Once it's heated, add minced garlic and ginger. Let it brown.

  • Now add Chili flakes. Fry for a few seconds.

  • Add Siracha & Maple Syrup. 

  • Cook this mixture for about 1-2 minutes on low heat.

  • It's time to add in the air fried cauliflower. 

  • Mix well so each floret coats well in the mixture. 

  • Once it's coated well in the glaze, take off the heat right away.

  • Let it cool and enjoy
